New month, new blog
Welcome February. This is a difficult time of year for me (my mom passed just over a year ago, and her birthday is this month), and I’m really trying to focus on positive, life-enhancing pursuits while I come to terms with the sad things we must negotiate in life. After starting my 2010 Challenge on my other blog, and deciding to switch to all real food for January, I’m completely converted to this way of eating. I’m also keen to write about my experiences, about various food issues, and so on. I’ve been blogging on my main site for ten years, a wild mish-mash of posts about whatever crossed my mind. Since various life events have brought me to 2010 with the intention of living a new & different way of life, I decided to start a new blog that is focused on the topics of that life. But I realized I should find another place to do all that, since my other blog has usually had a more whimsical, artsy focus. I still want that outlet, so I’m moving my food writing to this new playground. This space is where I can wax rhapsodic over the pure joy that is grass-fed butter and know that readers either understand the addiction or are willing to see what the fuss is about. I figure if you’re a real foodie kind of person, you’re looking to read about that kind of stuff and don’t care overmuch for my posts about other things. And people who visit my blog for the artsy, whimsical stuff might not care overmuch for things food & farm. So my blog’s dual personalities have split into their own entities.
As I am forever a designer, the look of this site is going to change a lot. I’ll be fiddling with it all month, I’m sure. But that needn’t bother you, haha, since you can subscribe via RSS or email (over to the left) and just read the content.
I’m going to be reposting some entries here, mostly for my own organizing goals. This new blog is going to be a way for me to put lots of relevant info in one place, so relevant posts need to hang out here. Forgive if you see duplicates.
I’ve got lots and lots to do, and lots of plans for lots of posts. The content will be focused on my ins & outs of eating real food, WHY real food is better, real food recipes, probably some info on various food political issues (aka ranting), and tips & tricks for single gals like me who are also into eating real food.
So off the new blog goes…bon voyage! Or wait, I should instead invoke Julia: bon appetit!

Glad you stopped by! This blog is focused on real food: cooking it, growing it, and its politics. It is also focused on the real, true health & healing that comes from eating nourishing, nutrient-rich food and developing a thriving immune system. These topics usually branch out into self-sufficiency, sustainability, and simple pleasures. For more about the project, see
